A desktop shell
A quiet Linux Desktop
inua gives your compositor the rest of a desktop: a bar, a launcher, a control center, notifications, a dock and a settings window. It is written in Go and GTK4, drawn in hairlines and a single accent, and it stays out of the way until you need it.
It works with Hyprland today.
What it is
The parts of a desktop we touch every day
- Bar
- Workspaces as small squares, the window you are in, the time, and quiet ways into everything else.
- Launcher
- One search for apps and open windows. Escape returns you exactly where you were.
- Control center
- Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, power, brightness, sound and media, from the services you already run.
- Notifications
- A brief banner, then a calm list grouped by app. Focus keeps them silent.
- Dock
- The apps you keep and the ones that are open. It can hide until you reach for it.
- Settings
- One window for themes, wallpaper, shortcuts, keyboard and touchpad. Changes apply as you make them.
How it is made
Small, plain, and meant to last.
- Go, without cgo.GTK4 through puregotk; the whole shell is a single
go build. - Layouts are markup.Every surface is a Blueprint file styled from colour tokens. Go only fills in state.
Colourways
Seven, from paper to night.
Install
One command.
curl -fsSL https://inua.lyric.im/install.sh | sh
# then log out and choose Inua
If you already use Hyprland, keep your config and add exec-once = inua-shell and, as the last line, source = ./inua.conf.
